Shauna originally turned to yoga on doctors orders after she found herself getting weekly chiropractic adjustments. The adjustments were great but for her, seemed to only mask deeper issues. That was 13 years ago and she hasn’t been to a chiropractor since. As a former collegiate athlete at Bryant University, Shauna can only wish that yoga was included in their high intensity double, sometimes triple training sessions. While strength training/conditioning is always the foundation, she found herself with injuries that may have been prevented had some form of yoga been included. As Shauna’s injuries began to dissipate, her love of yoga expanded. She completed her 200hr yoga certification at Boston Yoga School in 2014. She specializes in alignment based asana as well has methods to increase both strength and flexibility.
Jake Adkins is an aspiring pre-med student with volunteering experience in a hospital as well as coaching youth athletes on and off the ice. He will be attending UMass Boston this fall as a declared biology major while fulfilling his lifelong dream of playing college hockey. Spending his youth hockey career playing for the Colorado Thunderbirds in the Denver area, he moved to NH last year to develop as a player and a person. Jake is a former Junior Hockey Player in EHL for the NH Avalanche player and he hopes to give back to the organization that helped develop him into the student-athlete he is today.
Ethan Destefani is entering his second year as a trainer at Roots Athletic Development. He is currently in his last year of junior hockey eligibility and has played in the USHL, NAHL, and the NCDC as well as playing division 1 hockey at Merrimack College for a semester. He has also been working out at Roots for 3 years now and has seen the second to none results, intensity, and atmosphere first hand. “I have become a better athlete by training at Roots and I would recommend it to any athlete who is trying to take their game to the next level.” said Ethan when asked about his experience at Roots Athletic Development.
